Romulus cast promises traumatic shock moments in the new Alien film

Alien: Romulus may be the scariest installment in the franchise yet, with scenes that may leave some viewers with lifelong scars.

The upcoming film, directed by Fede Álvarez, is about a group of young space colonizers who come face to face with the Xenomorphs.

Ahead of the release of Romulus next month, the cast has teased some terrifying moments that will stay with audiences long after they leave the theater.

“I really believe that there are certain scenes in this film that will leave lifelong scars on some children who sneak into the film,” Isabela Merced of 'Madame Web' told Total Film in a new interview.

“You can definitely say goodbye to a 12A,” added David Jonsson. “The halfway house with Fede is just not his style. If you try to scare people, you scare them.”

Cailee Spaeny of “Priscilla” also commented, referring to Álvarez's reinterpretation of “Evil Dead”: “He doesn't know how not to spin it that way. It's just his instinct. He's waiting to do something weird and crazy.”

“And you know he's got what it takes when you're about to say, 'Should we do this?' Then you know, 'OK, Fede is in his element.'”

“Romulus,” which also stars Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu, will take place between the events of the first two Alien films.

Álvarez recently commented on Romulus' place in the franchise's chronology, explaining, “It was something that made sense for a premise in particular, that it had to take place a few years after the first one.”

“I don't know why I keep hearing this, maybe because I said it, that it takes place between 1 and 2. It's true, but I see it more as taking place after 1, which means the same thing… It's kind of the child of both films, visually, aesthetically and story-wise combined.”

Alien: Romulus hits theaters on August 16.
