Weekend entertainment | A bit of showmanship at the Canfield Fair

Weekend entertainment | A bit of showmanship at the Canfield Fair

“If you want to get to know me, just put on my albums and listen to them from start to finish,” says country star Brantley Gilbert“You will have a pretty good idea of who I am and where I stand.”

Gilbert used a sizzle reel to promote his new album “Tattoos,” which is set to be released on September 13th.

Before that, he will appear in the Mahoning Valley one more time when he headlines a Sunday concert in the grandstand at the Canfield Fair.

The title of the upcoming album suggests another way to get to know the artist: study his tattoos.

With his tattoos covering most of his body, Gilbert has literally made himself an open book. Each tattoo tells a story about a facet of his life and also offers him the opportunity to start a conversation.

“People get tattoos for many reasons, but for most of us, tattoos speak of our wins and losses, our struggles and all that,” Gilbert said in a press release.

Sunday's concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and features Sadie Bass as the opening act. Tickets start at $39.50; click HERE.

The Canfield Fair ends on Monday evening with a concert featuring the headliner Daughterplus Beech cherry And Hinder.

As with the Gilbert show, audiences will be very familiar with this trio of experienced hard rock acts.

Not only are they a busy, reliable live act, but they also have new material in the works and will unveil at least a few songs during their sets on Monday.

Daughtry, who rose to fame after appearing on “American Idol” in 2006, will release an EP titled “Shock to the System (Part One)” on September 27.

Buckcherry released his latest album “Vol. 10” last year, which featured the singles “Good Time” and “Let's Get Wild”.

But I think there will also be some nostalgia in the air, as all three bands have at least one timeless rock classic: “It's Not Over” (Daughtry), “Crazy B—-” (Buckcherry) and “Lips of an Angel” (Hinder).

Tickets for the 7pm concert start at $39.50. Click HERE.
