“Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T criticizes fan who thinks the show has become too “woke”

“Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T criticizes fan who thinks the show has become too “woke”

At the beginning of each episode of “Law & Order: SVU,” one of the longest-running television series, the message flashes on the screen: “The following story is fictional and does not depict an actual person or event.”

But the series does draw on real-life scandals and includes episodes that reflect actual crimes, including the domestic violence between Rihanna and Chris Brown and the sexual harassment case involving disgraced reality star Josh Duggar.

However, one fan of “SVU” seems to believe that the script has changed and become more “woke” – and that fan is now complaining to a member of the cast.

In early August, while the Paris Olympics were still underway, Ice-T, who has been a part of the crime series since its second season, wrote that he was slipping back into sergeant mode. He plays Sgt. Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, the number two to Mariska Hargitay's character.

“Seems like everyone is at the OLYMPIC GAMES,” the actor wrote to X, sharing that he was on site filming the 26th season of “SVU.”

28 days later, a user on the social networking platform responded to Ice-T's post, saying, “Have they written SVU back to normal yet? It was starting to wake up.”

Ice-T, whose real name is Tracy Lauren Marrow, was not entirely interested in the comment and responded promptly.

“What the fuck is woke? lol Like I give a shit,” he replied.

The rapper has always been open and never apologized for his terse answers. In February 2023, after receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he told Fox News Digital that he was immune to cancel culture.

“Well, they've been trying to cancel me for 40 years… I'm hard to cancel,” Ice-T said. “I've already told everyone all my faults and vices and people love it.”

“You have to learn that people hate above you. Nobody hates anyone below them. They don't pick anyone who is worse than them… I use that as motivation. If someone tells me, 'You can't do it,' then that means I have to do it,” he continued. “I use that negative energy as fuel. I eat haters as food.”
