64-year-old man charged with sexually assaulting his daughter in Maharashtra

Police have filed charges against a 64-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his daughter in Thane district of Maharashtra state, an official said on Thursday.

The 18-year-old woman alleged in her complaint that her father forced her to have sexual intercourse with him on July 5 this year when no one else was in the house, the Vartak Nagar police station officer told PTI.

When she refused, the defendant also touched and beat her inappropriately, he said.

This happened several more times after that, the complaint states.

On Wednesday, the victim finally turned to the police and filed a complaint against her father.

On this basis, the police have filed an FIR against him under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75(2) (sexual harassment) and 115(2) (intentionally causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), he said.

Police are investigating the allegations, he said
