Teenager speeding in Tesla died in Jefferson County crash, state police said

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 20 in Jefferson County on Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police said in a press release on Wednesday.

Scarlett Jewell Felder, who was driving a Tesla, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Tesla was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a westbound Jeep.

According to police, 65-year-old Michel Phillipe Sabourin of Florida was driving the Jeep.

Sabourin suffered minor injuries. Three other passengers in the Jeep suffered minor to moderate injuries, police said.

Investigators concluded that speed was likely the primary factor contributing to the accident, state police said.
