Missing 90-year-old Laredo veteran found dead in Nuevo Laredo

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – The search for a missing elderly man ended in tragedy.

Laredo police announced Thursday morning, August 29, that 90-year-old Francisco Mendiola was found dead in Nuevo Laredo.

Mendiola was last seen on Saturday, August 24, when he was dropped off in the 100 block of Salinas Avenue. He was supposed to cross into Nuevo Laredo. Mendiola was wearing a brown T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He was approximately 5'5″ tall, weighed between 165 and 170 pounds and was a U.S. veteran.

Police have not released any further details about Mendiola's death, but have previously asked the public for help in locating him.
