Chase leads to arrest for drug offense

SCOTLAND NECK, NC (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina man faces multiple drug charges after he began a pursuit at a vehicle stop earlier this week.

Scotland Neck Police said they were conducting a driver's license stop on Edwards Fork Road when Raheem Tabb attempted to evade the stop.

It happened on Tuesday around 9 p.m.

According to police, the chase, which reached speeds of up to 120 km/h, ended when the Scotland Neck man realized there were too many police officers in the area.

Police say they found over $5,000 in cash in the man's car and a bag thrown out of the vehicle. The bag contained 189 individual packets of heroin and a certain amount of marijuana.

Tabb, 38, was charged with heroin trafficking, illegal possession of marijuana, evading justice, reckless driving, failure to obey stop signs and driving without a license.

He was released on $40,000 bail.
