Investigation launched after drive-by shooting in Limerick

An investigation has been launched after shots were fired from a moving car in Limerick last night.

Gardaí confirmed they are investigating “all circumstances” surrounding the incident in which a shot was fired from a car on the N20 between Charleville and O'Rourke's Cross at around 7.20pm last night (August 28).

“At approximately 7.20pm on the N20 between Charleville and O'Rourke's Cross, Co. Limerick, two vehicles were travelling from Charleville towards O'Rourke's Cross when a firearm was discharged from one of the vehicles in the direction of the second vehicle,” police confirmed in a statement today.

“The Gardaí currently have no reports of any injuries,” they added.

Investigations are currently underway at Bruff Garda Station and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Any person travelling between Charleville and O'Rourke's Cross, Co. Limerick, between 7pm and 8pm on Wednesday 28 August 2024 is asked to come forward,” the statement said.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashboard cameras) and who were travelling in the area at these times are asked to please make this footage available to the Gardaí,” they added.
