23 shots fired in West Philly, man injured, police say – NBC10 Philadelphia

A 32-year-old man is in critical condition, police officials said, after he was shot multiple times Wednesday night while sitting in a double-parked car on Peach Street in West Philadelphia.

According to Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, police were called to the 100 block of North Peach Street around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night after gunshots were reported at that location.

There, he said, police found a 32-year-old man in a double-parked Nissan on the street after being shot in the neck, chest, torso and arms.

Officers took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was in critical condition, according to Small.

According to Small, investigators found 23 empty cartridge cases at the crime scene.

“So we know that at least 23 rounds were fired, and it appears that the 23 shell casings are at least two different caliber sizes,” Small said. “So it appears that at least two different semi-automatic weapons were fired.”

Small said police do not yet have a motive for the incident and have not yet identified any possible shooters.

However, he said there were surveillance cameras in the area and investigators were reviewing the footage.

The investigation is ongoing, he said.
