Liam Neeson's nephew dies 5 years after tragic fall

The nephew of actor Liam Neeson has died five years after a fall with a serious head injury.

Ronan Sexton, 35, died at the weekend surrounded by his family in Northern Ireland. Belfast Telegraph reports.

Sexton was out with friends in Brighton when he fell and hit his head in 2014.

Newspapers reported that he climbed onto a telephone box and fell to the ground. Sexton was hospitalized in critical condition that evening and later transferred to a neurological hospital in Haywards Heath, England. Few details have been released, but reports indicate that he never fully recovered from the accident.

Sexton was the youngest son of Neeson's sister Bernadette.

His death comes nearly ten years after Neeson lost his wife, Natasha Richardson, who suffered a fatal head injury while skiing in Canada in March 2009. She was 45.

In 2017, Neeson spoke to Irish television station RTE about the death of his wife of 15 years, saying: “There are times now in our New York residence when I hear the door open, particularly in the first couple of years… every time I hear the door open, I still think I'm going to hear her.”
