Man killed in bus crash in Manhattan's East Village

Male pedestrian died in MTA bus collision in East Village, Manhattan, after tripping near Avenue D and East 10th Street

EAST VILLAGE, NEW YORK (August 28, 2025) – A male pedestrian has tragically died after being struck by an MTA bus in the East Village, Manhattan, near Avenue D and East 10th Street.

According to the New York Police Department, the collision occurred on Tuesday around 10:40 p.m. A 45-year-old pedestrian tried to cross the street and stumbled at an intersection.

An MTA bus was turning south onto Avenue D when it struck the pedestrian. Paramedics were called to the scene to assist the victim.

He was transported to NYC Health + Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The full investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
