Pat McAfee suggests there is a “good chance” Aaron Rodgers will return for the weekly show

Aaron Rodgers will likely be back on ESPN Radio weekly next season thanks to “The Pat McAfee Show.”

During a media day at ESPN's Bristol, Connecticut campus, McAfee hinted that Rodgers would return for a fifth season to appear weekly on the popular sports talk show, which has made numerous headlines for the Jets quarterback's comments on the show.

“There's a good chance you'll probably see Aaron again on Tuesday,” McAfee said during a question and answer session that later got a bit heated, according to Front Office Sports' Colin Salao.

Rodgers has used the platform in the past to discuss his views on COVID-19 and other controversial topics.

Last NFL season, he engaged in a verbal exchange with ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after suggesting that the ABC late-night host might be on a list of Jeffrey Epstein's acquaintances.

During Wednesday's press conference, McAfee acknowledged that he had heard criticism of the segment and “did not dismiss it,” but argued that Rodgers' future place on the “Mount Rushmore of NFL quarterbacks” made the segment worthwhile.

McAfee has defended the segment in the past, pointing out that the footage will one day be used “in every Aaron Rodgers documentary in 10 or 15 years,” which he did again on Wednesday, according to Deadline.

“I don't know if that's journalism in your eyes or not, but I think it certainly provided something useful to sports fans,” McAfee said.

He also told the assembled group of reporters that there are “a lot of people asking that this kind of thing not happen again.”

It seems that Rodgers will continue to have a permanent place on the show despite everything.

Rodgers made his regular appearances last season while recovering from a season-ending Achilles injury sustained on the Jets' opening drive of the Week 1 game against the Bills.
