[Update] NCT member Taeil expelled from group after being accused of ‘sexual offence’ in criminal case – Asian Junkie

In a statement released a few moments ago SM entertainment stated that NCT Member Taeil would be excluded from the group due to allegations of an unspecified sexual offense in criminal proceedings.

“This is SM Entertainment.
We recently learned that Taeil is facing criminal charges for a sexual offense.
When we assessed the facts on this issue, we realized the seriousness of the situation and came to the conclusion that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the team (NCT). After consulting with Taeil, we have decided to withdraw him from the group.
Taeil is currently cooperating fully with the police investigation. We will provide further comments as the investigation progresses.
We deeply apologize for the concern and distress our artist has caused.”

This is surprising because SME had already become aware of the news before it was announced and had already kicked him out of the group. While this does not mean that he is guilty, it certainly does not bode well.

More will inevitably be released on this as we go along, so there's not necessarily a reason to speculate on it. But it's also pretty inevitable that people will.

Update

Police said Taeil was arrested for a sex crime that allegedly occurred in June. The alleged victim is an adult woman.
