Motorcyclist killed in accident on Salem-Dallas Highway

SALEM, Oregon (KPTV) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Salem-Dallas Highway on Tuesday, according to Salem police.

At around 2 p.m., a motorcyclist, later identified as 86-year-old Robert Nelson of Salem, crashed a modified trike into a concrete barrier.

Nelson was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there on Tuesday evening.

The accident occurred west of the Rosemont Avenue on-ramp.

There were no witnesses to the accident.

A section of the eastbound Salem-Dallas Highway was closed for about two hours. Traffic was diverted to Edgewater Street Northwest.
