Karl Bohnak starts federal election campaign

MARQUETTE, Michigan (WLUC) – A Republican from Uttar Pradesh running for a seat in the state's House of Representatives began campaigning for the general election Wednesday morning.

Karl Bohnak is challenging incumbent Democrat Jenn Hill in the state's 109th House of Representatives district.

At the launch event for his campaign, Bohnak explained how he plans to reach undecided voters.

The Republican says he and his team are going door to door and talking to citizens.

The former TV meteorologist says his goal is to ensure hard-working families can afford to live in the UP.

“We want to let people know that we are running for the Upper Peninsula,” Bohnak said. “We are running for the people of the Upper Peninsula to amplify our voice in Lansing and to make sure our values are properly represented there.”

Bohnak also believes that the state's new clean energy laws, which his opponent Hill supports, will lead to a population decline in Uttar Pradesh.

In a statement, Hill said:

“I have never been more excited to enter this race so I can continue to fight for working families in the UP. Voters have made it clear they want a candidate who will build a better future, not one who will set us back. That's why I've dedicated my career to lowering costs for working families, building a strong local economy, investing in schools and public safety, and ensuring UP has a strong voice in Lansing. The election this fall couldn't be clearer. I am the only candidate in this race who is putting our future first.”
