Dr. Pepper socks helped police find suspect in fatal stabbing in Dorchester

A Dorchester man's distinctive gait and Dr. Pepper socks helped Boston police identify him as a suspect in a fatal stabbing in the Boston neighborhood, court records show.

David Adams, 38, is charged with murder in connection with the stabbing that took place late Friday night on Dorchester Avenue. At the time of the stabbing, Adams was awaiting trial for assault on a household member. According to police, he slapped a person after a night of drinking.

Adams admitted to police that evening that he had been drinking, and an MBTA Transit Police officer noticed a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from Adams.
