Crownsville man dies in early morning motorcycle accident

Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning on Route 50 in Anne Arundel County.

The victim was identified as Andrew David Frye, 34, of Crownsville, Maryland. Frye, who was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. when troopers from the Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on eastbound Route 50 near Rowe Boulevard. Preliminary findings indicate that a 2019 Ford Fiesta, driven by Horatio Fitzgerald Easton, 59, of Annapolis, collided with the motorcycle while changing lanes.

Easton, the only occupant of the Ford, was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Authorities do not believe impairment played a role in the accident.

Following the accident, all eastbound lanes of Route 50 were closed for several hours. The Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure while Anne Arundel County Fire and EMS responded to the scene.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
