Bellevue police search for ‘armed and dangerous’ shooting suspect

BELLEVUE, Nebraska (WOWT) – Bellevue police are asking for the public's help in locating a man they suspect of being involved in a shooting Wednesday morning, calling him “armed and dangerous.”

According to BPD, officers called to a Family Dollar store near 25th Street and Chandler Road found a 29-year-old man at the scene who had been shot in the leg.

The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but the wound was not life-threatening, according to the BPD statement.

According to police, the suspected shooter is 26-year-old Di'Quarius Merritt of Bellevue, who, according to witnesses, fled the scene.

Merritt is believed to be armed with a handgun. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.

The shooting remains under investigation.
