St. Louis County church mentor accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old in 2022

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Missouri (First Alert 4) – Police are investigating after a 22-year-old church mentor is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

Brandi James, 25, of 14000 Willow Bend Park, Chesterfield, Missouri, was charged with two counts of sexual abuse or attempted sexual abuse and one count of child molestation. James is currently being held on $300,000 cash bail, no 10% bond.

According to a court document, the victim's mother read her 13-year-old daughter's diary. It stated that the 13-year-old had engaged in sexual acts with a 22-year-old church mentor. Information collected from the child's phone supports the allegations that she was anally abused at least twice. The child also said that the sexual abuse occurred because of clothing.

According to court documents, James confessed to others but refused to talk to police.

Investigators believe these incidents occurred between January 1, 2022, and November 30, 2022.

James met the child while serving as a mentor at a church at 9300 St. Charles Rock Road in St. Louis, Missouri. The church has cooperated with the investigation.

The investigation is being led by the St. Louis County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit. Investigators are urging anyone who believes James may have abused them or someone they know to contact the St. Louis County Police Department's Child Abuse Unit at 314-615-5400.
