Man charged with murder of mother and child who died in drunk driving accident

A man has been charged with murder for killing a mother and her 10-year-old daughter after colliding with them head-on while under the influence of alcohol.

27-year-old Diego Santoscruz was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of negligent homicide while intoxicated and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing personal injury.

On August 17 at approximately 1:04 p.m., Santoscruz was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he collided head-on with the victim's vehicle near the intersection of Temple City Blvd. and Gidley St. in Temple City.

Jennifer Argueta and her 10-year-old daughter Sabrina, who were in the car, were killed in the accident. The child's father, who was driving, was injured.

A passenger in Santoscruz's car was also injured.

Santoscruz is being held on $4,255,000 bail. If convicted, Santoscruz faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the Argueta family.
