Samuel Goldwyn Films acquires World War II drama “The Last Rifleman” with Pierce Brosnan

Exclusive: Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the North American rights to “The Last Rifleman,” a drama about World War II veterans starring Pierce Brosnan (“The Great Lillian Hall”).

Written by Kevin Fitzpatrick and directed by Terry Loane, the film will be released on November 8. Other titles scheduled for release during this period include Focus Features' award-winning Conclave from Edward Berger, Lionsgate's family comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Vertical's sci-fi thriller Elevation starring Anthony Mackie and Morena Baccarin, and Sony/Crunchyroll's Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom.

Inspired by a true story, The Last Rifleman follows Brosnan's Artie Crawford, a World War II veteran living in a nursing home in Northern Ireland who has just lost his wife. On the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings, he decides to escape from his nursing home and embark on a journey to France to pay his last respects.
