NVIDIA will announce its second quarter results on Wednesday after the stock market closes.

According to LSEG estimates, Wall Street expects the following from the chipmaker in the quarter ending in July:

  • Earnings per share: 64 cents adjusted
  • revenue: 28.7 billion US dollars

Nvidia is the main beneficiary of the ongoing artificial intelligence boom, with its market value having increased more than ninefold since the end of 2022.

Investors will be looking for signs that demand for AI remains strong. While analysts expect Nvidia to report its fourth consecutive quarter of triple-digit revenue growth on Wednesday, year-on-year comparisons are becoming increasingly difficult and overall growth is likely to slow over the next seven quarters.

Nvidia's guidance for the October quarter will be crucial in justifying the company's stock price. Analysts expect earnings per share of 71 cents on revenue of $31.8 billion, which would represent annual revenue growth of about 77 percent.

Nvidia CFO Colette Kress will likely present investors in a conference call with analysts with some data describing the return on investment her customers are getting from their Nvidia orders.

Investors will also want to know when Nvidia's next generation of Blackwell AI chips will launch. Earlier this year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company would get “a lot” of revenue from the new chips this year, but analysts and media reports suggest the launch of the new chips could be delayed.

Even with a potential delay at Blackwell, that revenue could be pushed to a later quarter while increasing current-generation Hopper sales, particularly the newer H200 chip.
