Police: Two Punxsy charged with assault after domestic dispute in Punxsutawney County

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — Two local women are in court and facing assault charges following a domestic dispute in Punxsutawney County, according to police.

Court records show that the Punxsutawney County Police Department has filed criminal charges against the 22-year-old. Alexis N. King and 34 years old Kaylyn V. Garciaboth of Punxsutawney, on August 15 in the office of District Judge Jacqueline Mizerock.

According to the criminal complaint, Punxsutawney County Police responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Weis Alley in Punxsutawney County in Jefferson County on Wednesday, August 14, for a domestic dispute.

Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to those involved. Alexis Koenig And Kaylyn GarciaBoth women were found to have visible injuries and both admitted to being involved in a verbal argument that escalated into physical violence, the indictment states.

King provided a written statement in which she reported that she and Garcia went to Walmart around 10:30 a.m. King said there were problems between the two and Garcia yelled at her in the car and called her a derogatory name. They walked back to her apartment while Garcia continued to yell as they entered the apartment. Garcia then ripped open the door and slammed it before throwing King's drink across the room, the complaint states.

The two continued to argue and King said she asked Garcia to leave. Garcia then began packing her things and was “aggressive.” King reported Garcia pushed her to the ground several times, scratched her and hit her in the face several times with a wooden box, the complaint states.

King further stated that Garcia threw objects around the room and threatened to break her finger, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Garcia also provided a written statement.

She stated that the argument became heated after she called King a derogatory word. Garcia claimed King put his finger in her face to provoke a reaction. Garcia walked away and told King not to poke or touch her. She said she entered the apartment and a loud argument ensued, the complaint states.

Garcia further stated that King began throwing her things around, which made her angry. Garcia stated that she pushed King, which caused King to bite her in the stomach, the lawsuit states.

Garcia told police that after the bite, King did not let go of her until she grabbed her face. She stated that King struck King in the back of the head as she was trying to grab her things, the complaint states.

King and Garcia were arraigned on August 14 before District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers on the following charges:

  • Simple assault, misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment – ​​Physically harassing others, summary

Both defendants were released on unsecured bail of $10,000.00 each.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for September 5, presided over by Judge Mizerock.
