Jake Paul's mother 'very scared' after seeing footage of Mike Tyson before controversial boxing match

Jake Paul has revealed that his mother is “very scared” as he prepares for his fight against Mike Tyson later this year.

The 27-year-old was heavily criticized for agreeing to fight Tyson, who at 58 is an incredible 31 years older.

The boxing legend's last fight took place in 2020, when his draw against Roy Jones Jr. ended.

Tyson has been training hard in the gym and posting footage of himself hitting the pads on social media to show that he still has the power he used to have.

And Paul revealed in an interview with talkSPORT that his mother is “very scared” about the impending collision.

“They will definitely be there,” he said when asked if his mother and girlfriend Jutta Leerdam would be present at the fight.

“But my mother is actually very scared.

“She keeps asking me if I'm ready, asking my team if I'm ready, and she doesn't like this.

But the former YouTuber and Disney Channel star tries to keep his feet on the ground. When asked about his earnings, he replied: “Not bad, man, I can't believe it.”

“I have already exceeded all my own expectations in life, in boxing and in everything.

“Whatever happens next is just icing on the cake and I'm just having fun with it and trying to inspire other kids because I'm literally from Ohio.

“I grew up in the middle of this city in a working-class family and had no idea what this world was.

“And so it really shows that if you want to do something, you just have to do it.”

Hollywood star Russell Crowe, meanwhile, admitted he was not sure Tyson could turn back time when he returns to the ring later this year.

Speaking on the Joe Rogan podcast earlier this week, he said: “The thing is, I quite enjoyed the second phase of Mike’s life.

“I was terrified of him as a boxer. He was terrifying.”

“Even when I met him one time backstage at a stadium during a fight, I thought, 'I'm still terrified of you.'

“Then he became this guy who became more inquisitive, thought about the meaning of life and smoked a cigarette now and then? I thought to myself, 'I like that, Mike, I like that development.'

“What bothers me about the whole thing is that he has to fall back into the role of the warrior, and I'm just not sure he had to do that.”
