Burlington teenager charged in mall stabbing

BURLINGTON, NC — Burlington Police Detectives are conducting an intensive investigation into Monday morning's stabbing at Holly Hill Mall.

Police said they found evidence to arrest 18-year-old suspect Jaylen Francisco Garin.

Garin was arrested without incident on Monday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was given bail of $5,000.

Investigators also identified the victim as a 34-year-old man from Burlington who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators also stated that it was not a random act of violence.
