Police pursue semi-truck on I-79 through Harrison County

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – On Wednesday morning, Clarksburg Police officers pursued a semi-trailer truck on Interstate 79 in Harrison County.

According to Harrison County 911, the semi-truck was involved in an accident on I-79 around 7:20 a.m., which sparked the pursuit.

Police pursued the truck to the Harrison-Lewis county line, where Lewis County Sheriff's Office officers took over the pursuit, officials said.

The pursuit ended when the truck crashed at mile marker 99, near the Weston exit, at approximately 8:05 a.m.

The incident is still causing traffic backup on I-79 as of 9:00 a.m. and drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Another accident was also reported on US Route 50 on Wednesday morning, but authorities cannot currently confirm whether the two incidents are related.
