Drunk woman injures driver and passenger in South Windsor crash, police say

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) – A woman is accused of drunk driving after causing a crash in South Windsor that injured two people.

Amanda Staron, 25, of Portland, was charged with driving under the influence, drunk driving and failure to obey a traffic light.

South Windsor police said they were called to the intersection of Ellington and Chapel Road around 9:45 p.m. on Monday for a reported accident.

They said they found Staron ran a red light and struck another vehicle.

Both the driver and the passenger of the other vehicle were injured in the accident.

According to police, Staron appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. She underwent a standardized breathalyzer test, which she reportedly failed.

She was taken into custody, case processed, and released on $2,000 no-bond bail.

Staron's appearance at Manchester High Court was scheduled for September 9.
