Suspect charged after reported carjacking accident in Edison Park – Nadig Newspapers

The 21-year-old driver of a reported stolen vehicle with three passengers suffered leg and spine injuries after he lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle in the area of ​​7600 West Touhy Avenue in Edison Park at around 10:35 p.m. on Friday, August 23, according to Chicago police.

A police helicopter monitored the stolen car, which was traveling at high speed at the time of the accident, police said. A handgun was reportedly found at the scene of the accident, police said.

The driver of the stolen car was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition, while the three passengers and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals, police said.

The suspect, identified by police as Lajuan Marquise Gene Hamblin, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful possession of a laser sight or silencer for firearms, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, violation of the high-capacity magazine/metal-piercing bullet ban and violation of headlight illumination regulations, according to the Chicago Police Department website.
