Shots fired at Bellevue near Manchester: no injuries, school operations not interrupted

Gunshots in the 2600 block of Bellevue Avenue triggered the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District's cellphone-based Raptor Alert System around 1:45 p.m., said Michael Dittrich, superintendent of the school district. Maplewood police had a suspect arrested in less than 15 minutes, so no alert was raised in the school district, although one was raised “just moments later,” according to Dittrich.

About an hour and a half later, a Maplewood Police detective entered the apartment building on the east side of the block to investigate. Bystanders said the shots struck residents of the apartment building on the block, and it was a good thing it was a bad shooter, as no one was injured.
