The new series entitled Who killed Diana? will include “rare and in some cases the first interviews with several key sources connected to the accident that caused Diana’s death” Deadlinereports.

Conspiracy theories about the death of Princess Diana have been circulating in abundance since 1997. One of the wildest theories comes from Mohamed Fayed, whose son Dodi also died in the crash: Prince Philip ordered the security services to murder the couple.

The official investigation, Operation Paget, ended in 2006 after three years and at a cost of £3.7 million (about $7 million).

It concluded that Princess Diana and Al Fayed died in a tragic accident and that there was no conspiracy or cover-up.

A subsequent commission of inquiry agreed with this.

But the speculation continued.

In January 2023, Prince Harry said that there was “a lot that was unclear” surrounding his mother's death.

He said he still had questions about why Princess Diana's driver lost control of the Mercedes, but saw no point in opening a further investigation “at this stage”.

In conversation with ITV’s Tom Bradby during the Advertising his memoirs Spare partHarry said he believes the “end result” would not have happened if the paparazzi had not followed his mother's car.

Harry said: “There are a lot of things that are unclear. I have been asked before if I want to open another investigation. I really don't see the point in it at the moment.”

In Spare partHarry revealed that he had asked to be driven through the same tunnel at high speed, saying that in his opinion it was “physically almost impossible to lose control of a vehicle unless you are completely blinded at the wheel”.

He also described how he requested access to a secret government file on the investigation into the death of Princess Diana and received it from his private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.

He told Bradby: “To this day, I will be eternally grateful to Jamie for showing me what he thought I needed to see, but leaving out the things he knew I didn't need to see.”

“I don't know where I would be now if I had seen the things I wanted to see, the things I really wanted to see.” He pulled out what I suspect were the more meaningful photos.

“I saw her blonde hair hanging on the back of the seat. There were other photos that probably showed my mother's face and blood – I assume Jamie removed those photos.

“I think at that point I was looking for proof that it actually happened, that it was true. But I was also looking for something that would hurt, because at that point I was still pretty numb to the whole thing. My body, my nervous system, had just shut down and said, let's not go any further with this.”
