16-year-old charged in Valdosta after shooting

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – A 16-year-old was arrested after firing shots at a man, according to Valdosta police.

On August 13, Valdosta police officers were called to the 400 block of East Rogers Street for a report of multiple gunshots. When police arrived, a 22-year-old man told them he was walking to his car in the area when two unknown men approached him before one pulled out a gun and fired several shots in his direction.

During the investigation, a 16-year-old was identified as the perpetrator, according to a press release. On Tuesday, August 27, police found the teenager “hiding” in a relative's apartment.

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Serious bodily harm
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
  • Possession of a firearm by a minor

The teenager was taken to a regional juvenile detention center.
