Tutor charged with sexual abuse of teenagers; police fear more victims

GERMANTOWN, MD — A religious education teacher has been accused of sexually abusing a student, and Montgomery County police fear more victims have come forward.

Adi Yousef Najjar, 65, of Germantown was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor and fourth-degree sexual assault. Investigators are urging anyone who may be a victim of sexual abuse by Najjar to contact them. (Below is a photo of the suspect.)

On June 4, Montgomery County Police and Child Protective Services began investigating Najjar after receiving a report of sexual abuse of a minor. The assaults reportedly occurred between September 2022 and June 2024, when Najjar was the victim's Islamic teacher.

Najjar turned himself in to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on August 21 and was released on unsecured personal bond.
