According to a report by Bloomberg News, Apple is cutting around 100 jobs in its digital services division. By Reuters

(Reuters) – Apple Inc. has cut about 100 jobs in its digital services group, with the biggest cuts affecting the team responsible for the Apple (NASDAQ:) Books app and the Apple Bookstore, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

The layoffs will affect some engineering positions and other service teams such as the team that runs Apple News, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Apple declined to comment on Bloomberg News' report.

It was not immediately clear how many people Apple employed in its services division. According to its most recent annual report, the company employed about 161,000 full-time employees as of Sept. 30, 2023.

Apple has reorganized its teams in response to changing priorities, including in the area of artificial intelligence.

According to media reports, the company has already suspended work on its next high-end vision headset and earlier this year ended a project to design and develop its own smartwatch displays.

Apple has been battling headwinds in China, its third-largest market, since last year; sales there fell 6.5 percent in the last quarter.
