NEW DELHI: In the opening round of the US Open on Tuesday Carlos Alcaraz faced a challenging match against Australian qualifier Li Tu. Despite the initial hurdle, Alcaraz managed to win 6:2, 4:6, 6:3 and 6:1.
Alcaraz, who has won four Grand Slam titles and recently finished second, Novak Djokovic at the Olympic Games in Paris, started the game strongly.

The Spaniard regained his composure by breaking serve with a powerful forehand in the third set and taking a 4-3 lead. From that point on, Alcaraz dominated the match and secured the win with his eighth ace. He will now face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round.

The 21-year-old, who already won the US Open in 2022, showed no signs of being affected by the injury to his right ankle, which he sustained during a training session on Saturday.
