UPDATE: Arrest made in connection with shooting at apartment complex – American Press

A 22-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon at a Winterhalter Street apartment complex.

Kayla Vincent, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, said Laiyn D. Pete turned himself in around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

He is charged with illegal use of a dangerous weapon and violating a gun-free zone. Judge Tony Fazio set his bail at $212,500.

Vincent said investigators believe the shooting may be related to an earlier altercation between Pete and the victim, who was released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are currently continuing their investigation, examining evidence and interviewing witnesses.
