Islamic teacher from Germantown charged with sexual abuse of minor in Maryland: police

Adi Yousef Najjar was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor and fourth-degree sexual offenses following an assault investigation.

According to police, Montgomery County Child Protective Services and the Montgomery County Special Victims Investigations Unit began investigating the tutor in June after allegations of abuse arose.

The alleged assault occurred in September 2022 and June 2024, when Najjar was the victim's Islamic teacher.

The Germantown native turned himself in to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit last week and was later released on unsecured personal bond, the department said.
