Teen drove man accused of firing multiple shots at group in Conway

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – An 18-year-old from Conway is facing charges in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month.

Documents obtained by WMBF News show that Devan Raper is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting an Aug. 15 shooting on Austin Avenue.

According to arrest warrants, the rapist is accused of driving the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Jayden Brown, while he fired several shots from a handgun at a group.

According to the documents, one person in the group was hit by one of the shots and had to receive medical treatment.

Brown, a Columbia native, was arrested last week and charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He has been held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center since Tuesday.

Raper, meanwhile, was admitted to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on August 23 and has been under house arrest since then.

He is still there and at the time of this writing, bail has not been set.
