Elementary school teacher charged with sexually abusing former student in Prince George's County – NBC4 Washington

A Prince George's County elementary school teacher is accused of sexually abusing a former student. The victim was only 9 years old, and the man now arrested was 44.

Court documents accuse Mark Edward Cobb, a teacher at Cooper Lane Elementary School, of contacting a 9-year-old he taught last year via text message and through Roblox, an educational computer game website with a chat feature popular with children under 16.

In a statement, Cobb is accused of asking the child “if he could taste her,” which investigators interpret as an invitation to the victim to perform sexual acts.

Surveillance camera images show police and detectives executing a search warrant at an apartment on Governor Bridge Road in Bowie on Monday. Court documents list the apartment as Cobb's home.

According to court documents, investigators found several hundred computer files containing child pornography.

They also found a black bag containing individually wrapped children's underwear, some of which appeared to have been worn.

Cobb is being held without bail pending his next court date.

The principal of Cooper Lane Elementary School confirmed the deeply disturbing information in a statement and offered counseling for students and families.
