Bloomberg News reports that Apple is cutting around 100 jobs in its services division

(Reuters) – Apple Inc. has cut about 100 jobs in its service department. The biggest cuts will be in the team responsible for the Apple Books app and the Apple Bookstore, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

The layoffs included some engineering positions and other service teams, such as the team that runs Apple News, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

It was not immediately clear how many people Apple employed in its services division.

The company did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment on the report.

Apple has reorganized its teams in response to changing priorities, including in the area of artificial intelligence.

According to media reports, the company has already suspended work on its next high-end vision headset and earlier this year ended a project to design and develop its own smartwatch displays.

Apple has been battling headwinds in China, its third-largest market, since last year; sales there fell 6.5 percent in the last quarter.
