Woman in cocaine case with child's backpack waives preliminary hearing

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – The case of a child's backpack filled with cocaine is being brought before a grand jury.

An attorney for Tierra Hill today waived her right to a preliminary hearing. Mobile County sheriff's officials say her 3-year-old child was carrying a schoolbag containing cocaine when her home was raided in March.

However, Hill's attorney says it is unlikely that this case will be tried in state court. Hill is also a defendant in a federal indictment accusing him of similar activities.

Hill's co-defendants had also previously waived their right to a preliminary hearing.
