Star Trek producer Roberto Orci faces charges of physical and sexual assault

Star Trek and Transformers screenwriter and producer Roberto Orci was accused of “repeatedly” physically and sexually assaulting his wife, actress Adele Heather Taylor, in a lawsuit filed Monday.

The complaint, a counterclaim to Orci's June lawsuit against Taylor alleging she attacked him with a Taser and pepper spray, details years of physical abuse dating back to a March 2018 incident in which Taylor fled a taxi after Orci punched her in the face three times. It characterizes the producer as a bipolar alcoholic who “rarely takes his medication” — someone who belittled her with insults like “whore,” “slut” and “other derogatory, sexist slurs.”

Other assault incidents Taylor describes in the countersuit include two alleged incidents in May and June 2022 in which he knocked her to the ground and raped her in her yard, stating in the first instance that he could do whatever I wanted with you and in the second that “you enjoy being raped.”

“Added to Adele's anguish over Bob's sexual assault and rape on those two occasions was the pain she still carried from being raped twice as a teenager,” the documents say. “Now Adele felt like a shadow of herself. She was traumatized and frightened, and the violence continued.”

Taylor's response to such incidents was complicated by Orci calling the police in April 2020 and Taylor “making false accusations that Adele had caused him physical harm” when she acted in self-defense, the documents say. Orci “asserted his control over Adele, reinforced by the implicit threat that he could have her arrested whenever he wanted.”

This was the case with Taylor's most recent encounter with Orci in December 2022, which she recorded for the record before leaving him. He said at the time that no one would believe her if she spoke out against his abuses. “I can do whatever the hell I want. You've been arrested twice. You have nothing on me,” Orci said.

Following this incident, Orci obtained a restraining order against Taylor and filed for divorce. In his lawsuit against his wife, filed in June, he accused her of taking advantage of him, while admitting to being a recovering alcoholic who has been through several stints in rehab.

Taylor's countersuit accuses her husband, 15 years her senior, of breaking an agreement to divide their assets through a family trust to “provide financial support and security for the rest of their lives.” Taylor was a young actress when they met. Her credits include a guest appearance on “The Blacklist” in 2020.

Orci's recent credits include co-creating “Sleepy Hollow” and “Hawaii Five-O,” which ended its 10th season in April 2020. Representatives for the screenwriter did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.
