Cast of ‘Emily in Paris’: Kim Cattrall joins the show

Emily in Paris Fans are not the only ones who are Sex and the City Crossover – the cast is also fully committed.

The cast revealed earlier this month that Kim Cattrall as a guest star would be the ultimate gift, with Lucas Bravo He told IMDb: “We've talked before about casting Kim Cattrall in 'Emily in Paris.'”

The 36-year-old Bravo plays Gabriel in the hit Netflix series and made it clear that nothing is officially planned.

“But it would mean that it would have to play a significant role, and also [for] she should say yes to this idea,” he noted. “But I float around all day dreaming about this possibility and hoping it happens.”

Lily Collins showed her support for the idea during the joint interview and added: “I would say the obvious but also honest answer will be Sex and the Citysimply because I feel like there is a lot of overlap.”

Contributors Ashley Park And Lucien Laviscount both said Sex and the City is “obviously” the group's first choice. Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Bruno Gouery agreed with this opinion after seeing that fans had the same idea.

Emily in Pariswhich premiered in 2020, follows Emily (Collins) as she moves from the US to France, which comes with some challenges. Emily finds herself in a love triangle and tries to face the truth about her romance with Alfie (Laviscount) and her feelings for Gabriel (Bravo), who is about to become a father.

The connection to Paris – and creators Darren Star's involvement in both shows – has led some viewers to believe that the door is already open for a cameo appearance by the 68-year-old Cattrall. The possible crossover would follow Cattrall's absence in Sex and the City's Revival series, And just like thatdue to a dispute within the show's legendary circle of friends.

Cattrall, who played Samantha in SATC and was initially the only original star in the two films who did not return for the Max revival series after off-screen drama. The actress had previously made it clear that she would not return for the now-canceled third film or the revival.

In December 2021, Showrunner Michael Patrick King noted that And just like that should never revolve around the core group of SATC.

“Fourthly, it was never on the radar because for some reason Kim Cattrall didn’t want to play Samantha anymore, while we were [third] Film,” King told Hollywood Reporter“I never thought, 'Oh, there's a gap I need to fill.' Samantha doesn't exist in her life. [And Just Like That] was born from these three characters: What does their life look like and who can I involve to shape it?”

Cattrall made a brief cameo in season 2 when Samantha was on the phone with Carrie, but Cattrall filmed the scene alone. After the surprise appearance, Cattrall denied rumors that she was in talks to return.

“Oh, that's so nice, but that's not me,” she wrote about X in July.
