Polls in Oklahoma close on Election Day

It's Election Day for voters across the state, and here in Tulsa, people have voted on who will be the next mayor of Tulsa.

There are several issues on the ballot. One of the most important issues is the election of the mayor of Tulsa, in which seven candidates are in the running.

The last mayoral election took place in 2020.

If no candidate receives a majority of votes today, there will be a runoff election in November.

In addition to electing the mayor, voters also elect city councilors for each of Tulsa's nine wards and vote on changes to the city constitution.

Some of the proposed changes would increase the salary of Tulsa's next mayor and city council members.

Voters in the city of Sand Springs will decide whether to extend an agreement with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) for 25 years.

It allows PSO to use public areas in Sand Springs to operate the power grid and was approved by the Sand Springs City Council earlier this year.

Voters in the city of Collinsville will vote on the 2024 Collinsville bond, which will cost just over $95 million.

If approved, this bond would help Collinsville Public Schools build a new preschool and fifth grade center, improve student transportation, and more.

Be sure to bring your voter registration card or valid ID to vote and view sample ballots on the OK Voter Portal. Polls will remain open until 7 p.m.
