Converse man arrested for sex crimes against children in Sabine Parish

SABINE PARISH, La. (KSLA) – The Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a Converse man charged with sex crimes against children.

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell said Jerry Bryant Vines, Jr.60, was arrested on August 16 for sexual assault. The investigation into Vines began on August 6. The sheriff's office said Vines touched his 11-year-old victim in a sexual manner.

After Vines' arrest, according to the sheriff's office, other victims came forward and told of sexual abuse over the past 25 years. The age of the victims at the time of the abuse ranged from 5 to 13 years.

Vines was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

• Sexual harassment
• First degree rape of a child under 13 years of age (6 cases)
• Oral sexual abuse of a child under 15 years of age
• Indecent behavior towards a minor
