Man sentenced to up to 22 years in prison after sexually abusing minors for a decade: DA

A man described by the Cumberland County District Attorney as a “sexually violent predator” has been sentenced to 11 to 22 years in prison after being convicted of more than a dozen federal charges of sex crimes against minors.

Joseph Tondo, 58, was convicted of multiple sex crimes against children, including indecent assault on a person under 13, indecent assault on a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault without consent.

During the trial, the victim alleged that Tondo sexually abused her for a decade starting in 2008 and even demanded “sexual acts” in return for certain “privileges.” Further proceedings detailed that Tondo had also sexually abused other minors associated with the victim.

Tondo was sentenced on September 30 and will serve his sentence in the Cumberland County Jail.
