Houma man arrested and charged with child rape: Terrebonne Sheriff

Eric P. Nelton, 38, has been charged by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office with first-degree rape and oral sexual assault. He was arrested just before noon on August 26 after the Sheriff's Office received information from a relative about the alleged victim, who is now 16 years old. Nelton is accused of sexually abusing the victim when she was between the ages of 6 and 10.

Nelton remained detained without bail by local judges.

“As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victim and family,” said Sheriff Tim Soignet. “Our investigators are working tirelessly to bring this unfortunate investigation to a close and bring a dangerous offender to justice.”
