Police reports: Bomb threat at Am Shalom, series of car break-ins in Winnetka

The following reports are taken from the most recent police summaries from the departments in our jurisdiction (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WILMETTE

24.August

• A stroller was reportedly stolen from an unlocked car in the 1600 block of Highland Avenue.

20.08.

• A car and key fob were reportedly stolen from a garage in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road.

• Tools were reportedly stolen from a basement in the 900 block of Illinois Road.

15.August

• Artificial plants and $500 cash were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road.

WINNETKA

25.August

• A resident was reportedly scammed out of more than $4,000 after responding to a person claiming to be the resident’s boss requesting gift cards.

19 August

• Numerous unlocked vehicles were reportedly illegally broken into overnight in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Cherry Street. A phone charger was reportedly stolen from one of the cars.

GLENCOE

15.August

• Am Shalom was reportedly one of several temples in the area that received a bomb threat with ransom instructions. Glencoe Public Safety reportedly found nothing suspicious on the property of Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Ave., after a “thorough walkthrough of the grounds.”

HIGHLAND PARK

24.August

• Two people who were allegedly trespassing on the roof of Wayne Thomas Elementary School were brought down by the Highland Park Fire Department.

20.08.

• A wallet was reportedly stolen from a store in the 600 block of Elm Place.

NORTHFIELD

No incidents had been reported as of press time (Tuesday, August 27).

KENILWORTH

20.08.

• Between 2 and 3 a.m., an unlocked car was stolen from a driveway in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue. The vehicle was located in Chicago.

• Five cars were reportedly broken into overnight from three homes in Kenilworth, one each in the 300 block of Warwick, the 200 block of Melrose and the 300 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
