Suspect arrested in fatal knife attack in Wilkes-Barre, Maine

A suspect in the stabbing death of a man in Wilkes-Barre in May is in prison in the state of Maine, authorities said.

Judge Flenory, 23, was incarcerated in Maine on a drug charge when corrections officials discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Scott Knox.

On May 7 at around 3:30 a.m., police were called to the 300 block of South River St. to investigate a stabbing victim. Knox had been stabbed multiple times.

According to court documents, the stabbing was related to an attempted purchase of narcotics when Knox was confronted by five suspects.

Flenory, who was taken into custody in Maine and booked into the Penobscot County Jail on Monday, was one of the suspects charged in Knox's murder.

During processing, a correctional officer noticed Flenory's “unusual” behavior, which led to an investigation into his identity, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said.

After a thorough investigation, corrections officials determined that Flenory had provided a false name and date of birth and confirmed that there was an extradition warrant out of Pennsylvania for his arrest on a murder charge.

“The attention to detail of correctional officers prevented this man from potentially being released on bail or placed in a lower security level where he could have harmed others,” the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Flenory remains in custody as a fugitive from Pennsylvania. He is accused of murder, illegal drug trafficking and aggravated forgery.

Fernando Bracero, 30, and Jaime Knights, 63, were also charged with Knox's murder. Both have since been taken into custody.
