Injury update for Caitlin Clark: Fever star overcomes ankle shock and returns against Dream

Fever fans experienced a bit of a scare tonight when the team faced the Dream.

With just over three minutes left in the first quarter, Caitlin Clark fell backwards into the penalty area during a defensive action, holding her left ankle.

The rookie remained lying down while Indiana head coach Christie Sides approached her on the field and her teammates crowded around her.

Latest information on Caitlin Clark's injury

Although Clark appeared to be in a lot of pain after twisting her ankle, she left the court under her own power. She returned to the game early in the second quarter after sitting out the rest of the first quarter to receive treatment at the end of the bench.

She took off her shoe and sock to tape her ankle and was able to return.

Clark played a total of 37 minutes in the game and scored 19 points on 6 of 14 shooting, along with seven rebounds and seven assists in the Fever's 84-79 win.

Clark, along with teammate Kelsey Mitchell and Sides, spoke about the injury scare in the post-game press conference.

“I watched the replay and I look really crippled,” the freshman said as Mitchell and Sides laughed. “It wasn't a bad sprain, but it hurt. Sometimes you just have to give yourself a second. If you've sprained your ankle before, it just stings a little bit, so I was good.”
