Man dies after accident at construction site in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Coroner's Office is investigating a fatal accident that occurred at a construction site last week.

According to Coroner Mark Bowen, it happened Friday at 2470 Gordon Highway, where a new apartment complex is currently being built.

Adan Cruz-Binzha, 28, of Augusta, was hit by an excavator bucket while at work.

He was taken by rescue crew to Doctors Hospital in Augusta, where he was pronounced dead at 5:56 p.m. Friday, according to Bowen.

An autopsy is planned.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has also been notified and is investigating, Bowen said.
